We never heard many specifics about the custody battle but I have always thought that much came out about the Browns during that custody battle that we never heard of.
Until OJ told it on tv, I had never read nor heard that Denise was not allowed to see the kids.
I think by the time the ruling came around, Lou had been basically accused of stealing money from the children and the trust fund taken away from him.
Perhaps it was obvious to the judge that the custody battle was just another way to get at the money. I always understood that if the Browns did gain custody, OJ was still expected to pay their way--to the Browns.
Perhaps mismanagement of the $10,000 per month he did give them while he was in jail came into play in that trial.
If what was told in Raging Heart was in anyway correct and they used the N word (Lou and Judy) around the children and how when OJ and Nicole had family parties, the Simpson family was never at the parties--they were uncomfortable around the Browns and felt not welcome---all of this would play into the case.
You always heard of OJ taking the Browns on big vacations and paying their way but I never heard of his taking his own family.
I think it might have played against them that OJ had basically supported them in one way or another thru the years and that they couldn't sustain jobs or the companies OJ gave Lou (bankrupted them), etc.
They may have come off as the very dysfunctional family that they are--and one that couldn't support the children nor manage their money or anything about the upkeep of the children. Or in Lou's case even lie publicly about OJ not giving him the $10,000 each month.
I think reading those transcripts would be fascinating but they are sealed. charlie
