Jasper, I was reading one of the forensic mysteries that are out now and popular.
This was the situation. An aide to a US Senator went into his house late at night with a key. He was there to pick up papers for the Senator in his home office. It was a large house --expensive house.
He opens the door and flips on the light in the foyer and starts back to the office in the back. He stops and goes into the living room on the right and flips on the light and finds the nanny killed by having her throat cut.
When the cops asks him what made him stop and go into the darkk living room he answers THE SMELL.
The plot is that he finds the body w/in 2 hrs of her being killed.
Also they tell of the splatter being all over the wall and all over the couch. This is the spray type splatter that we have said before is missing from the Bundy crime scene.
It reminded me of what you said -repeatedly --about the smell where a great deal of blood has been spilled.
Then in a companion case in the book, a young woman is found in an alley and the first on the scene is a 'rookie" cop who had not been out on the street for long. You know what the first thing he did at the grisy scene? He threw up, that's what. Even the others who came later and were more used to this sort of thing almost threw up.
Riske or nobody ever mentions being sick to their stomach or throwing up at Bundy. In this case, the woman is found w/in a couple of hours of her death--she hadn't been out there a long time. She had been dumped there.
Didn't Riske say it was his first case like this? Or am I remembering it wrong.
AT no time does anyone mention the smell (which should have been strong with Nic and Ron there) and being sick to their stomach whether they threw up or not.
