Spring,

Perhaps Charlie and I are being too hard on the Browns for their actions at Bundy so soon after Nicole’s death. We are looking at this through the prism of our knowledge about other things the Browns have done that show a greater interest in what they could get for themselves than any other consideration.

Under the circumstances, with the police so concentrated on the case, I agree with Charlie that the normal security issues did not apply. Lou had the presence of mind to change the locks right away. There would have been no problem in getting the police to guard the place until the Browns were better equipped emotionally to deal with the practical matter of disposing of Nicole’s belongings. With the media attention focused on that condo, it would have been the most secure house in Brentwood.

Yes, it was a traumatic event, which could have clouded the Browns’ judgment. The troubling thing for us (Charlie, I think we are on the same page here) is that removing the valuables the way the Browns did it was consistent with everything they did since then to cash in on Nicole’s murder. I’m talking about O.J.’s support payments for Justin and Sydney (Lou’s attempt to double dip). I’m talking about Dominique selling nude photos of Nicole to the National Enquirer and Denise setting up the “charity” in Nicole’s name and putting the money in her pocket.

These people should not have been hurting for money. As far as I know, they didn’t use Nicole’s valuables to help other family members (aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces or Lou’s other children) who might have needed the help. They changed their stories about the relationship between O.J. and Nicole to build a better case for their wrongful death lawsuit instead of using what they knew to give the police and prosecutors a better idea of who the killer might have been. Juditha changed her story about the last time she talked to Nicole (how long they talked and what they talked about) to fit the prosecution’s timeline for the murders – and thereby better her chances in the wrongful death lawsuit.

The Browns USED Justin and Sydney more than they cared for them. They gave nothing to charity. They kept it. –Jasper
