Nancy, They may have had a desert at the restuarant and Nicole's kids did not.
I thought it strange too.
I don't recall what the receipt said about any desserts but maybe someone else does.
Their so-called rush was that it was getting LATE and the kids had school the next day.
In one of Judy's earlier versions of what happened, she says this. It was the reason they couldn't finish looking for the glasses or wait for the waitress to do so. Now, remember, this is a version where she knew the glasses were missing at the restuarant and they searched while still at the restuarant.
