Charlie,
In Michigan we had a 55 MPH speed limit, too. I’m not sure when it was repealed but years before it was repealed most people drove around 70. I do recall that not every state repealed the 55 MPH limit at the same time (as I recall, the federal standard was not a federal law). Michigan was one of the last states to do it. That’s why I asked about the law (speed limit) and custom (speed limit enforcement) in California in 1994.
Here again Lou (if he was really driving and it wasn’t Denise behind the wheel) would hot have had to push things too much if the Brown’s left Mezzaluna earlier than Crawford or De Bellow thought they did. They didn’t check the time they just guessed. They might have left later than 9:00 or earlier than 8:30. Without KNOWING when they left all we can do is figure out what it would take to reach Dana Point in time to make the calls IF we us one time or another as the start time.
I did think of something else that could get us closer to the actual time the Browns left for home. Does anybody recall when Nicole got the ice cream from across the street and how that time was arrived at? --Jasper
