Dennis Fung was not the most articulate person on the witness stand and he kept terrible notes but he wasn’t stupid. He tried to be honest but he also tried to be a team player. That’s where he ran into trouble.
Fung understood the significance of blood drop patterns and explained it well with the blood drops he collected that showed direction and those that didn’t. He said that he didn’t collect all of the blood drops on Rockingham because he was only required to take representative samples. However, the samples he took (being honest and trying to do a good job) confirmed the story he hadn’t heard yet about O.J.’s SMALL cut AND his story of walking his dog and going back and fourth to his Bronco and his front door when the limo arrived http://www.smartfellowspress.com/flash/Blood%20trail.html .The blood drops he had photographed but didn’t collect showed the same path of travel.
However, Fung not only failed to collect the other blood drops (including a big blob that partially showed up next to a blood drop he did photograph AND collect.) he didn’t photograph them. He didn’t say why he picked up the markers that Brad Roberts put down for the other blood drops but his actions implied that he KNEW they were planted. By not photographing them and allowing himself to appear incompetent on the witness stand he was being a team player. –Jasper
