We tend to forget that during the trial, Marcia Clark got a divorce---and that it is said there was a "cop" named in the divorce. They sealed the records and we never knew who this was.
It was speculated that it was Vannatter--since he had the "special" relationship with her and Lange didn't like her at all.
Also, Lee Bailey asked MF on the stand if he "socialized" with Marcia Clark. At the time, the camera was showing Clark and that pregnant lawyer at the table. Both of them jerked and looked up at the stand with held breaths. (couldn't miss they were holding their breath for MF's answer and Bailey probably knew something) MF took a long while to answer but then answered NO. THe women then looked very relieved.
I noticed this as did others. In fact, I have had others ask me if I noticed it. I did.
Then I got to thinking--why didn't Brad Roberts appear in court? Oh, we can think of a million of them but none that particularly hold water. It wasn't just that he didn't appear in court but was basically hidden for 1/2 to 3/4 of the trial.
Could it be that it was Brad Roberts who was her honey and not MF and they could not afford to have him anywhere near the case?
Regardless, it could be that whomever it was--also knew Fuhrman and MF had socialized in one way or another with her.
Does anybody but me recall that it was said she was a big drinker and she did her drinking at the local "cop" watering hole with the other cops?
Also Vannatter calls her early---some say in the middle of the night instead of calling the office to be assigned someone by them.
Is this another way that Clark was over a barrel as to what she could or could not say or investigate, etc. because it would expose a close relationship with one or more of these cops?
Her reputation in the men department was not so hot. She even tried a fling with Darden during the trial.
Is this something that MF knew and counted on in this case from the get-go?
This case made her lots of money and fame as well you know. As it did VAnnatter (who was stuck in LA and couldn't retire til he had enough money to repair his earthquake damaged house).
Would personal relationships (perhaps sexual) with one or more of the cops in the case got her removed from the Trial of the Century? Or not assigned in the first place?
Wasn't there some complaints from Darden and others that the OJ investigators were following them? Investigating them?
I don't think Bailey would have asked a question that he didn't know the answer to --about MF socializing with Clark. And MF was VERY slow in answering. charlie
