In the case of pain meds it would be a big thing, cause you could abuse meds by going to more than one doc who perscribed. Most therapists cannot perscribe and have to have an MD to do it. But it would be highly unethical to take a patient from another therapist. But in our state not against the law. Twice I sat in for therapist who were out of town and the clients said they wanted me instead of their regular therapist. I had to turn them down because it would be unethical for me to take them. But those LA therapist did not seem to have ethics.
