I suspect that Nicole had several people over that evening as has been hinted at by a few now outcasts of the Hate Simpson club. That it wasn't O.J. Simpson who killed her or was even seen there nor heard by the kids. That the kids maybe got up and took their ice cream out to the garage when everything happened, hence the call the next day to the answering machine of Nicole's with poor Sydney screaming into the telephone for Nicole to pick up because she wanted to know what had happened the night before.
