It is very possible that Weitzman could have told OJ in the course of the Heidi investigation and his job to coverup for the studio--that Nicole would come under scrutiny.
If Pellicano was involved in any surveillance of Nicole--with Weitzman--it might have appeared to people that OJ had gotten Weitzman to hire Pellicano when in fact it was about the Heidi stuff not any personal stuff.
