Ms. Marple,
The thing that struck me most about that passage from Murder in Brentwood was the fact that while a victim and the accused were missing things, Fuhrman was finding things.
O.J. was missing a golf club, a gate opener and a spare key to his Bronco (although he didn’t know it at the time). Nicole was missing her garaged door opener and the keys to her house and gates. And there’s Fuhrman finding everything he needed as he needed I to lead him inside of O.J.’s house for a search. Fuhrman finding the key to the den was no more remarkable in my mind than him finding the blood spot, the witness who heard the thumps, the bloody glove, the Swiss Army knife box, the Ghost tape in O.J.’s VCR and the origin of the stick.
I see three possibilities and I’m not ruling out others that I can’t see right now:
1) Fuhrman had a master key to the house before he got there and he accidentally let the cat out of the bag.
2) He lied about finding the key to give him the ability to lie convincingly about witnessing O.J.’s dramatic return from Chicago to Rockingham. That room was probably the only place in the hose where he could have seen what he said he did.
3) He lied about the date. Maybe that room wasn’t searched until the 28 (isn’t that the day the detectives watched Frogmen with Gigi?) Fuhrman could have gotten the key from Gigi. “Finding” the key that no one else could find makes Fuhrman,the "great detective," look like he is just damn good at finding anything. --Jasper
