After seeing Fuhrman’s movie I now believe that the Bundy case and the Belle Haven case were entwined from the beginning. In the movie as well as the book it was based on, Fuhrman says that Michael Skakel used his mother’s DISTINCTIVE six-iron as a weapon of convenience. Before I saw that, I made the mistake of thinking that Fuhrman’s accomplice on Rockingham took the club as an instrument of convenience for banging on Kato’s wall. Now it looks like the killer chose the club as carefully as he chose the gloves (thin, tight-fitting, leather gloves – like golf gloves), the cap and the shoes that left imprints like Bruno Magli Lorenzos.
Those who have argued that it made no sense for someone as knowledgeable and intelligent as Fuhrman to plant the glove where and how it was planted, need only see the head of the Tony Penna golf club in Fuhrman’s movie to see why they are wrong. This is precisely the kind of evidence that Fuhrman berated the Greenwich cops for not accepting on face values.
You know, of course, that I believe Fuhrman’s partner Brad Roberts did the actual planting and told Fuhrman where to “find” it. I don’t think that the dog was an issue with the gates because I don’t think the glove left Brad Robert’s car until after Fuhrman talked to Kato. I don’t think it left the bag until they conferred on the best place to drop it.
The stick may have been brought to Rockingham to make the thumps, abandoned because it wasn’t long enough to reach the wall, then used for another purpose. But it’s looking more and more to me as though O.J.’s missing club was supposed to look like the weapon O.J. hit Nicole with and had to be substituted for the left-hand glove when O.J. cut the finger of his left hand. The golf club AND the glove would have been too much even for Fuhrman. –Jasper
