Charlie,
It made me craze to see how much attention the prosecution, the defense and the press paid to the stab wounds on the body of Nicole and Ron while treating the blunt force wounds almost as an afterthought. When I saw exactly where the bruise was on the back of Nicole’s skull (above and behind the right ear) and on Ron’s skull (above and behind the right ear) I knew damn well that both of them where hit, as opposed to hitting their heads when they fell. I knew that Ron was hit only hard enough to stun him while Nicole was hit hard enough to incapacitate her.
Nicole was hit so hard I couldn’t understand why there weren’t more bruises like that on her head and face. After all, if this was a rage killing that began with a pounding blow to the head, why didn’t her attacker keep on hitting her? In Fuhrman’s Murder in Brentwood he devotes one line (page 208, paragraph 5) to whatever it was that caused that crucial wound. “He [O.J.] tries to regain control of the confrontation by attacking Nicole with a pounding blow to the top of her head.”
Fuhrman NEVER says what he believes O.J. hit Nicole with, much less what he hit Ron with. I’ve said many times that the heel of the German Stiletto would have done the job for Nicole and the Swiss Army knife would have done it for Ron Goldman. Only recently have I come to see how O.J.’s missing golf club could have been used to account for the blow to Nicole’s head, and why it would have been so effective if O.J. hadn’t cut his finger BEFORE that attack…
Picture O.J. preparing to go out of town on a golfing trip with Hertz. He has packed his golf gloves, so he picks up a pair of Ares Lights that just happen to be laying around to swat a couple of balls while he’s brooding about Nicole. Whacking the ball with Nicole in mind, he works himself up into such a state that he decides to drive over to Nicole’s condo. He is only using the club as a walking stick, the way he often does but when he sees Ron with Nicole he files into a rage, bashes Nicole in the head with the golf club and is about to hit her again when Ron jumps him and knocks the club out of his hand. O.J. pulls a knife. His rage again takes over. He kills Ron and Nicole is regaining consciousness. Then he kills and runs away.
With the bloody golf club on Bundy, the cap, and the shoeprints, the killer has everything he needs to frame O.J. with a LOGICAL story that fits the evidence. Fuhrman can now find both bloody gloves in a plastic bag on the south path where O.J. “obviously” intended to bury them before something startle him into moving on. When O.J. cut his finger, the killer was forced to improvise. The club was out on Bundy, the glove was in – but the story was saved for Fuhrman’s second book, Murder in Greenwich and his movie, with Michael Skakel as the killer and plastic bags stuffed with autumn leaves.
Charlie, you really should see the Murder in Greenwich movie. E-mail me an address where I can send you a copy and I will. Watch for Badin. Watch for the two pieces of the golf club that were left and the controversy over the missing handle. See if the Bundy murders don’t start looking more like Fuhrman-bate to hook Dominick Dunne. -- Jasper
