So true. In a forensic autopsy, where not only the cause of death but the circumstances are being investigated, there are all manner of things to be included. BTW, a former coroner's investigator is the technical help for that CSI show--one from the LAPD. It is a female but don't recall her name.
At any rate, every bump and bruise, scar--old and new and anything else of an identification nature is to be documented for a possible court case.
Very specific descriptions of the clothing and the manner and condition that they were in is to be documented. Photos taken of each item.
Not only CSI shows this but so does Crossing Jordan and any number of the true crime programs on the cable.
I have often wondered if there were two autopsies. And the one we saw was only for public consumption but then again the one for Vince Foster that appears in the official report is only 2 pages long. I don't recall the exact number of pages but the autopsy on my father consists of at least 6 pages. His was a medical autopsy though and not a forensic.
In a forensic autopsy, the body IS the evidence. It is the Evidence in a court of law. It is the Proof that a crime has been committed and committed on a certain individual that the autopsy helps to identify to the satisfaction of a court of law...hence the identifiers listed on the autopsy.
The bruises and cuts on the body should have been individually documented and described. And as I said the long scrap (that drew blood) on Nicole's leg was not mentioned at all.
