When the EMT/fire dept was there and what they did and when IS important since by LAW in CA, the EMT was to call the coroner. Neither he nor the cops did until about 8AM in the morning.
They had at one time--by Ito's own words--28 Ford Taurus cop cars on the scene. I think some of them would be knocking on the doors of neighbors.
And as was mentioned earlier, if some of those firemen knew Nicole and could ID her or tell the cops info, it becomes important there too
