You can find numbered references to the blood in O.J.’s Bronco on page 53 of Freed’s Killing Time and page 161 of Fuhrman’s Murder in Brentwood. The problem is neither source tells you when those blood smears were taken or who gave the order. I think that you may be able to find something in Michelle Kestler’s testimony where she went back to clean up some of Fung’s poor record keeping. The way I understood it at the time, there were no “new” photos to be taken, only further identification of the ones that had already been taken.
The only blood evidence in the case that isn’t questionable consists of the blood drops marked by Fung on Rockingham and identified as O.J.’s. A close examination of them speaks volumes for ALL of the blood evidence (Iago, Chapter 30: Blood Trails), which is supposed to comprise the blood trail running from Bundy to Rockingham.
I got most of the pictures I used for the book to locate the numbered blood drops on O.J.’s driveway, walkway and foyer from a website that is no longer up (Dametri, or something like that). At the time, this was the only site available where all of those photos were displayed from a CourtTV capture. The quality of the long shots was poor, the foreshortening (perspective distortion) was extreme and the viewing angles were deceptive. The close-up shots were mostly blurred and cropped so that it was extremely difficult to locate them in their proper context.
The edges of the driveway and the stripes of bricks running across them divided the drive into segments that I could use as reference lines to locate each marker within an error margin of about six inches in all but one case (marker # 7) on Dick Wagner’s drawing). That’s why the width of the driveway and the shape of the curve near the garage is crucial to locating the markers precisely. If you are not an expert in scale and proportion you simply can’t do it. That’s why I say the photos were taken, not to show where the blood drops were, but to confuse the issue.
Although I am an expert in scale and proportion, marker # 7 gave me fits because there weren’t enough reference lines or landmarks that I could use to take out the extreme foreshortening in the photos. That one could be off by as much as a foot.
With respect to the blood locations in the Bronco, no special expertise is necessary to determine that they do not quite add up to a man driving with a bloody glove on his right hand. That scenario is suggested by a mixture of O.J.’s DNA, Ron’s and Nicole’s on PASSENGER SIDE OF CONSOLE but no blood on the passenger seat. When you look at the alternatives to that scenario you run into all kinds of physical and logical contradictions with O.J. taking the glove off, picking it up and carrying it to the south pathway on Rockingham, with the hand that carried it and the time it was dropped.
I think that the explanation for the blood in the Bronco (one drop spread over a wide area) is as simple as the explanation for the blood identified as O.J.’s on Bundy. The samples were switched. –Jasper
