Prien, You can thank Kari for all the hard work necessary to see just how out of sync the testimony of Fung, Lange and Matheson was to each other and to the official logs. It was a bear to put it together independently but my research came out the same way hers did. Turns out it was not only possible to make the switch in the lab; it was downright easy for ANY detective known by Matheson, Fung or Lange to do it. That ease of access is what I believe Matheson, Fung and Lange were trying to hide because of one detective who shouldn’t have been there and was already being accused of planting evidence. No prearranged conspiracy was necessary. I fact, it would have been better if nobody but the person making the switch knew what was going to happen. Michelle Kestler set up the lab security to safeguard it against the theft of narcotics. Security against tampering with blood evidence by lab personnel or detectives wasn’t in the program. As the first lead detective in the case it would have seemed proper for Fung or Matheson to let Fuhrman in. Lange didn’t need an excuse to enter the lab at any time. He and Vannatter were the current lead detectives and as such they were authorized to be there. Fung’s numbering scheme looks a lot different when you read in Fuhrman’s book what Fung did with the blood drop markers that Brad Roberts laid down on Rockingham. Fung picked them up and laid down his own. Those are the markers Fung collected for testing and the ones I used in the Blood Trails animation that confirms O.J.’s alibi. Fung’s numbering system is basically the same as I used at Ford with a graphics program that required many transparent layers. Because you couldn’t tell in advance how many sheets you were going to need for each layer, you assigned them a large starting number. You could therefore number each layer in sequence without fear of running into another layer. Fung had a similar problem that he solved in a similar way. All of the tainted blood samples can be accounted for by switching, planting (blood on the back gate) in July or by Yamauchi’s “accidental” blood spill on the Rockingham glove in August. Sgt. Rossi knew that O.J. might have been related to one of the victims when he got the call about the murders. That alone meant that it wasn’t routine and someone with higher authority than West LA had to make the transfer to RHD. The way the LAPD was structured, the first person on Rossi’s call list (he started calling before 12:30) who could make that decision was Comm. Bushey. Although the EMT, as Miss Marple pointed, arrived at 12:45 and pronounced the victims dead, I think that was just a formality and they never came near the bodies. But Bushy couldn’t issue the transfer order or the notification order until Nicole’s body was identified. In that context, his orders and HIS timing make sense. They also narrow the scope of the killing/frame-up considerably. Fuhrman’s arrival at 2:10 and Bushey’s orders at 2:30 tell me that the identification was made between 2:10 and 2:30, time enough for Fuhrman to set the vector for the entire investigation. And the testimony of the other detectives that Bushey’s order came after 4:00 was a real conspiracy to hide the activities of one man – Mark Fuhrman. –Jasper
