Remember that Chris Springer pointed out the reaon for cuffing OJ. If he didn't have a cut before then, he would have had one after then, and that would have been their claim that Simpson had a cut from which he bled. Who was going to believe the cops inflicted the injury.
The crime was committed in a way that allegedly produced tons of blood that could be used to frame Simpson. Keep in mind the cops got Simpson to admit he bled BEFORE he went to Chicago. It's easy to do. Tell him they found blood on his property, and what's he going to say? Well, I must have cut myself, and he is throughly screwed.
