I disagree with you on at least one point. I don't think Simpson cut himself at Rockingham at all. The cops tricked him into that admission by claiming they had a problem they needed to explain about finding blood at his estate. Simpson obliged, essentially as a conditional -- i.e. i you found blood there, I must have cut myself, and that should explain it. He have that "explanation" hoping he had thereby cleard things up, without realizing he had thereby cooked himself by admitting to an injury that they could then use a a basis for claiming he dropped blood at the scene. The fact is, that once theyr tricked that admission from Simpson, there was no way he could back away from it no matter how he tied. It greatly complicated the defense, even though they had several plane passengers who testified they saw no cut on his finger where it should have been if he cut himself.
It is, of course, vey possible for someone to cut himself without realizing it. I ahve done it many times working on my model railroad, only to realize I must have nicked myself when I suddenly see blood smears on the layout. Simpson's attempted explanation thst he cut himself without realizing it is perfectkly acceptable, except he fucked himself by giving it.
The handcuffing trick as a way of creating an injury is not, of course, the only method the cops may have been ready to use. Charlie may bd right that the cops latched onto the planting scheme only after they learned that Simpson had cut himself in Chicago. thee is, in fact, no telling when the bllod drops actually appeaed either at Bundy or Rockingham, or where what was allegedly found and photigraphed was actually blood.
All I am certain of is that blood planting scenario to get Simpson was part of the original plan. How they would ontain the blood to plant it and create the injury to validate it may have been left open to see how things would develop. They must have had several options for ceating the right scenario to validate the drops they would use to frame him.
I also differ about when I was sure Simpson didn't do it. I had no doubt right from the start. The evidence was too pat, and the method of murder too difficult and too unlikely for one person to have done it within the time allowed. And there was no apparent motive.
When people pressed me about how could he be innocent with his blood found at the scene, my immediate response was the cops must have gotten his blood sample from somewhere. People ridiculed that possibility. I had to concede it might be far fetched, unless Simpson was dumb enough to have given the cops a blood sample. And lo and behold, what did I find? He did just that. My brother and I were totally convinced thereafter it was a complete frame job, and that none of the blood evidence shoul,d even be admissible given the police access to Simpson's blood for the purpose of planting evidence.
My only problem initial was the scope of the conspiracy necessary to commit the murdes and the frame up. I initially thohghnt it was an after the fact frame-up, but those who believed Simpson guilty blew that theory apart because of the enormous coincidences that must have happened for it to have been unplanned.
There was then only one alternative xcplanation that accounts for all the evidence. the murder and frame up were both planned in advance, with the cops recruited fterwards to complete the frame job begun by the killes, with sifficient pressure frpm the top to make the foot soldiers go along with it.
They did, and they were well-paid. The book contracts, you know. That's just a sophisticated bribery scheme.
