Nice to have you back, too.
I'm having trouble with my e-mail. I can't send or receive e-mails because I can't get into my mailbox. I've been going around in circles with Ameritech trying to get it working again. So far, no luck.
I do wish I could see the tape you saw. My tape of Schwab's testimony doesn't show him marking the spot where he met the couple. It only shows him marking where he found the dog (you can't tell from the diagram which side of the street it's on), where he crossed Gorham (from the east side of Bundy to the west side of Bundy) and where he lived on Montana. This was the "corner" I asked you about where Schwab said the Akita barked the most because all of the diagrams show a big round bend, where in fact there are two corners. At this point there is no mention of the couple. He said everything he had to say about them earlier.
You will recall the long exercise we went through trying to figure this out, and the mistakes that both of us made in the process. However, by the time we were finished it was clear to me that the manner in which Schwab was questioned by Marcia Clark had much to do with the confusion because she did not follow a straight line of questioning from the beginning of his walk to the end. She got general statements about what Schwab did and when he did it with a few details here and there. Then she went back to ask about the couple. That's when Schwab said that he saw them again after crossing Bundy on the corner of Dorothy from the west side of Bundy to the east side. At this point Gorham was nowhere in the picture.
It was the UNINTERRUPTED SEQUENCE of events he described after meeting the couple again on the east side of Bundy (he was on the west side and crossed the street) that puts them on the east side of Bundy somewhere north of Dorothy and well south of Gorham. The couple proceeded south on Bundy while he proceeded north. That was the last time he mentioned them. AFTER THAT he waved down the cop car and had a brief conversation with the cop. AFTER THAT the Akita barked at the corner. AFTER THAT he crossed Gorham. AFTER THAT he had another conversation with the cop and the cop followed him home.
The time markers I put on my diagram of Schwab's June 12 walk with his dog and the Akita are inflexible. If his testimony didn't match the markers the animation would have shown it. This is not something you can cheat. You can't make a theory fit into time and space unless the time and space exists in fact. Either it works or it doesn't. It works with the combined testimony of Schwab and Heidstra. I works with the couple on Bundy and Dorothy. It doesn't work with the couple north of Gorham. If you try to cram everything that Schwab did after he saw the couple for the second time into the time and space north of Gorham and south of Montana you get less than three minutes to work with. In addition, you get actions that could have taken place only south of Gorham.
I had a feeling this would take us back to Jill Shively. If the animation is right, your friend (yes, I'm sure she's a good person) has to be wrong.
The animation is right.
