Rovaan,

I went back to the transcripts to see if I could figure out why you were so sure that you saw Schwab indicating that he saw the couple the second time on Bundy north of Gorham. What I saw were the same broken chronology traps that we fell into before.

Schwab does talk about the events you described in the sequence you indicated. However, that was not the sequence of events that he described; it was the sequence in which Marcia Clark asked the questions.

The only way to see Schwab's testimony in the context of the events as they occurred, as opposed to when he was asked about them, is to break the testimony down into layers. On the first layer you put a clock (time) for a constant measure of duration. On the second layer you draw a map of the area (space). Then you superimpose the dog walkers and the strolling couple (mass and energy). You set them and the clock in motion (direction and speed) and you see whether or not the pertinent elements collide in a way that's inconsistent with the laws of physics.

Marcia asked about the time bracket for Schwab's dog walking routine (the clock). She let him explain when he left, which streets he walked down, what directions he turned and when he got home - to draw a verbal map of his route.

No couple here. No dog, no cop; just a lay of the land and the time in normally took to traverse it.

Next Marcia wanted to know about the night of the murders. She specifically asked him if anything unusual happened. He told her about finding the Akita, the blood on the dog, the missing tags. He told about the Akita barking at the house on the west corner of Bundy and Dorothy then at some houses on the east side of Bundy as the dog followed him and his dog up the east side of Bundy toward Gorham. He talked about flagging down the cop in the 800 block and the dog barking at the west corner of Bundy and Gorham. He talked about crossing Gorham at a point that put him back on the west side of Bundy, about the cop following him and the dogs and about what happened when he got home.

No couple. But now we have the dog and the cop.

The court recessed. Forty-two minutes later Marcia continued questioning Schwab about what he did with the Akita when he brought it back home with him. Then she took a sudden shift back in time to his walk with his own dog before he found the Akita….

Q: During the time that you were walking your own dog, do you recall seeing a man and a woman walking together at some point on your route?

A: Yes. that particular night, I didn't -- I only -- I didn't run into too many people. I ran into these two people -- if I could show you.

Q: Please.

A: Yes. Umm, as I was walking here along Gorham, i passed a couple coming from the other direction, a man and a woman….

At last we have all the players, the abandoned Akita, the cop and the couple. The next time and the last time we see them again in this unbroken sequence is on the corner of Bundy and Dorothy.
