Miss Marple,

Gonzalez could be the key to Nicole's surveillance of O.J. (does anyone recall when that was?). There is no indication of who Nicole hired to do the job but Gonzalez's business card in her desk drawer makes him a strong candidate.

There had to be a reason for her to have that card. We don't know who gave it to her, how long she had it or whether Gonzalez knew anything about it. We do know that some LAPD officers did a lot of moonlighting and that there had to be a link between Nicole and the card. Shipp is the most logical link. He was a "friend" of Nicole and a former cop with contacts in the LAPD who had the required surveillance skills. He provided security for the pizza party that Nicole threw at O.J.'s house a month or so before her murders and he hired LAPD officers to do the work. Was Gonzalez one of them? Did Nicole specifically ask for him? If so, where did she know him from?

These are questions that did not have to go unanswered. The only Shipp/LAPD contact we know of was Mark Fuhrman. Gonzalez was also one of Fuhrman's "friends."

Why didn't Marcia look into that when she learned that Fuhrman did, in fact, tell at lest two police officers that he had an affair with Nicole in 1992? She had the names of the officers and their sworn statements. Whether or not Fuhrman was telling the truth about the affair, he certainly knew one intimate detail about her anatomy that he could not have known unless he saw her before and after her breast modification or knew someone who knew her well. When you add the Gonzalez business card you get another possible before and after link to Nicole and Fuhrman - before and after her murder. That's one more link too many.

As your example of Gonzalez's vulnerability on the witness stand demonstrate, it would have been easy for the defense to find out about his relationship to Fuhrman, Shipp and Nicole simply because he wasn't prepared for the questions. That's how we found about Shipp's relationship to Fuhrman. What does Marcia have to say in her book about that revelation? --Jasper
