There are still some things to be confused about. The partners issue is one of them (see Knowledge Base Discussion/Partners). The partners had to stay in communication with each other. They had to coordinate their efforts. They did not, however, have to stay in physical reach of each other all the time. Vannatter, for example, spent most of his time on Rockingham and Lange spent most of his time on Bundy. They stayed in touch by cellular phone.
In the preliminary hearing Fuhrman said that Roberts was in downtown L.A. interviewing the witness who found the dog (Schwab) when the West L.A. Detectives were relieved by RHD. That, of course, can't be true because Lange sent Roberts and Nolan to interview Schwab in his home on the morning of the 13th. Roberts didn't talk to Schwab downtown (about twenty miles away from Schwab's home) until the 17th. Thus, Fuhrman puts Roberts completely out of the picture before the "four" detectives went to Rockingham to tell O.J. that Nicole had been killed.
You have to go though the transcripts of Schwab and Lange to see that Roberts and an unnamed detective (who had to be Nolan) got Schwab out of bed to interview him at 5:00 or 5:30 on the 13th. That's when the other four detectives were outside the walls of O.J.'s Rockingham estate. But there is no record of when the interview ended or what happened to Nolan when Roberts left. By this time Nolan knew that he, Roberts and Fuhrman were off the case but Robert's partner was at Rockingham "helping out." Roberts drove the car. He pulled up at Rockingham alone.
My position in Iago in Brentwood was that Roberts, not Fuhrman, planted the glove, the stick and the additional blood drops along the left side of the Rockingham driveway. I based that idea on the evidence that SOMEONE planted those items and whomever it was drove in the back way and reached the front by way of the Salinger's driveway that ran from front to rear of the property. The only question I had was when did he do it, around midnight (give or take a half-hour on either side) or somewhere around 6:00, shortly before Fuhrman reported finding the glove?
I discounted the 2:30 time advocated by Steven Singular in his book Legacy of Deception and adopted by O.J.'s defense team in the criminal trial because Rosa Lopez was asleep by then. I missed Commander Bushy's testimony about ordering the death notification at 2:30 so I didn't make the connection until you pointed it out. I still believe that Fuhrman and Roberts where at Rockingham when Rosa Lopez said she heard the voices that frightened her and I believe that this was the best time to plant the stick. Now I suspect that Fuhrman and Roberts returned to Rockingham at 2:30 because Philips sent them there to see if they could find anything incriminating before the RHD detectives could go there as witnesses to the fact that the evidence was there before they arrived.
Rosa Lopez testified that she heard the voices of two men somewhere around midnight. She didn't look at the clock so she couldn't be sure. However, she estimate that she heard O.J.'s voice at around 11:00, which was close to the time he left for the airport so she did have a reference point for judging when she heard the strangers' voices. This is the time I say Fuhrman and Roberts first went to Rockingham to scout out the scene and decide where and how to plant the stick and the glove but couldn't decide upon the glove because they didn't know what Kaelin would say about the thumps. The time that Fuhrman spent between the gates on the south path gave him plenty of time to meet with Roberts in the rear of the house, for Roberts to plant it and for Fuhrman to "find it." All Roberts had to do was watch for Fuhrman's flashlight and walk down the Salinger's driveway to confer across the fence, take the glove out of a plastic bag and drop it. -Jasper.
