You say "How do we know there were cob webs" about fuhrman's little 20 minutes venture behing the guest houses. I have been thinking "how do we know WHEN there were cob webs"? Sure, fuhrman destroyed evidence while walking past the air conditioner. But when? After that there was only his word for it that there were cob webs at about 6.30 in the morning. He said he continued walking even though he "concluded nobody had walked there". Why would he say that he did that AT THAT TIME unless the cob webs had been wiped out earlier. And he knew it.
