Last night Japser and I talked long distance two hours (after which I went out and killed someone just so I could us the conversation as an alibi) and one of the things that came up was his theory of the thumps.
He said that Ron shipp went to the Salinger side of the property fence, reached over the fence that was five foot hight at that point and hit a wall four feet away with (one has to assume) the baseball bat.
Well, for one thing, I challenge YOU to get a baseball bat, find a five foot fence. Adjust your height to that of a six foot man by standing on something, crouching, or just being six feet yourself, then swing that baseball bat over the fence and see how hard you think you could hit a wall four feet away.
I also objected that given the physical realities of the tree on the fence, Shipp couldn't have done it anyway. I mention to J. that the only physical description (there were no photos) of the Salinger side of the fence as in Jason simpson's depostion.
Here is the relevant line from that depostion:
Q: Now, why would it be not possible to climb the fence from the Salinger property onto the Rockingham property after that point where we just stopped?
MR. LEONARD: Same objections.
THE WITNESS[Jason]: 'Cause there's a succession of trees that are probably about six inches apart and probably about four inches in diameter that are right -- I mean that go from here all the way back (Indicating). So, I mean, you'd have to be a pretty thin dude or female to slip through them. And they got branches.
Now, what does it do to your theory, Japser, if Shipp did not make the thumps as you say?
