I have Chronic Pain Syndrome which is in DSM IV. When a person has Chronic Pain it effects their everyday life, their thinking processes, and causes what is considered Mental health Symptoms easily misdiagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder, Agoraphobia, etc... To get it, think of how it would feel to have pain as extreme as Bone Pain 24/7 for years and years. As in, 33 years before the severe physical problem is diagnosed but can be traced back the entire 28 years. It can make a person appear Anti Social, hateful, mean, loud, crazy, scary, many words that wound to the core. There is the stigma of appearing insane, when one is only in pain. Of course several surgeries later and still in intense pain, Depression sets in. Pain is never ending. It becomes a part of everyday life, it decides if one goes anywhere or not. It can cause suicide. Many negative emotions blend into the appearence of rage. Asking a simple question can appear to be rage. It truly is an insidious disorder because one looks normal, and lives in agony. Most people believe one is faking. It is a new disorder that is treated still like people who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Disbelief, faking etc. I hope this helps.
